ICC World Cup Record Corner
  • Australia is the only side to have won the ICC CWC on four occasions, in 1987, 1999, 2003 and 2007.
  • Ricky Ponting is Australia’s leading batsman in ICC Cricket World Cup history (and second on the all-time list), with 1537 runs going into this event. He also has a joint record of scoring four centuries.
  • Glenn McGrath has the most wickets in ICC CWC history with 71 victims.
  • Australia has won a match by one run at an ICC CWC on two occasions, defeating India by that margin in 1987 and 1992.
  • If Ricky Ponting plays one match at the ICC CWC 2011, he will break Glenn McGrath’s all-time record of 39 appearances at ICC CWC events.
  • Australia-South Africa in the group stages of the ICC CWC 2007 saw the highest match aggregate in the history of the tournament, ahead of the ICC CWC 2011, with 671 runs.
  • It is also the current holder of the ICC Champions Trophy. It won that title in 2006 and 2009.
