• South Africa has never reached a final of the ICC CWC – it has been a losing semi-finalist in 1992, 1999 and 2007.
• It has the second highest win percentage in all ICC CWC matches.
• Gary Kirsten’s 188 not out against the UAE at the ICC CWC 1996 is the highest score in the history of the event.
• South Africa is the only side to tie two matches at the ICC CWC – against Australia in 1999 and Sri Lanka in 2003. Both games resulted in its elimination from the tournament.
• Ahead of the 2011 event, Lance Klusener has the highest batting average in ICC CWC history. He averages 124 an innings (of batsman who have played a minimum of 10 innings in the competition).
• Herschelle Gibbs is the only South Africa player to have scored more than 1000 runs in the ICC CWC.
• Allan Donald is the leading wicket-taker for South Africa in ICC CWC history – he is sixth in the all-time list.
